Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

It's a feeble way of trying to make something look/sound cheaper I think.

On Monday I was in a bike shop and the bloke was trying to sell a woman a bike. 'This one's six nine nine'. Because six ninety nine sounds like £6.99 and £699 sounds really expensive. Twunts.

Companies that don’t respect that wasting two full days waiting in for them to not turn up is totally shit

I don’t think it’s that, McG, not on menus, it’s just a trendy, stylised way of presenting things, like serving food on slates, or in little tin buckets.

I was going to post almost the same thing as Dio, except I was also going to mention smashed avocado.

Yes, I suppose you're right. You might find they start quoting the prices in binary or hexadecimal next

Smashed avocado tastes nice at least, whereas you can’t eat wanky hipster numbers

“Pounds? You didn’t say your prices were in pounds. Pounds sterling? What a quaint concept, do they still exist?

You won’t take my 52.5 dried pumpkin seeds? Ok, how about 52.5 lolly sticks? Here’s 60, keep the change.

Funny thing is, you said your fish and chips was a 10, but to me it was no more than an 8. Overall, I’d give the whole meal a 6, I’ll pay on Trip Advisor.

Can I have a receipt for that?”

To be fair, it’s unlikely to be in euros
