Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I hadn't heard that one about the pampas grass until recently but when I moved in here there was a mature on in the front garden that I decided to get shot of ... purely because they're horrible. It took me about 8 or 9 hours to get it out. Honestly they are absolutely BRUTAL !

I just borrowed a pair of my neighbours longhorn cattle. They are it in half a day then crapped on the stump. Not heard a peep from it since.

[I am one of those sinners who planted pampas grass in my first garden, as did all my neighbours. It was a fashion statement, rather like monochrome/greige in this century]

So did mine! The best part of summer was my sister and I pulling out the longest fronds, dipping them in cold water, and slapping each other with them.

I expect the grown-ups did something similar, Carp.

(How on earth do children discover games like that?)

[My parents planted a pampas grass in front of their new house in 1972. All the neighbours had them. Us kids were quite competitive about whose pampas grass had the most fronds. Now, I wonder ... it was a very close community of young first time home owners and they were always having "dinner parties".]
