Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The presence of a guard on a train - especially at night and when travelling alone is reassuring. Whilst Im sure they wouldn't be able to fight off all attackers it does, IMO, provide a deterrent for random misdemeanours or bad behaviour. As a female travelling at night I'd definitely feel safer if I knew there was a member of staff (when often you can be the only other person in a carriage) that you could call on if in difficulty or being harrassed.

Someone being short, arsey and distant with you but completely denying that they're doing it and calling you paranoid.

[It seems that Southern are insisting that that trains will still have a second member of staff on board trains, they just won't be doing the doors. Reading between the lines though, this makes the second staff member not essential to the running of the train so they could slowly disappear....]

Dispatch of train will still be safety critical as then it's station staff liable for the 'right'

Twice last week my patience was sorely tested by draughts from doors that weren't shut properly. One was a cafe, the other was a pub. Both doors had closing mechanisms that were just not strong enough to fully close the door. The punters coming and going were fooled into thinking that the door would close on its own and didn't make the effort to make sure it closed.

The female members of my family who put their clothes in the washing basket half inside-out, balled up, and with one item inside another. I don't take my clothes off like that but, if I did , I would turn them completely one way of the other, straighten them out, and separate them properly before putting them in for the wash.

Dio, in my house it's the males. So bloody annoying!

Oh, and empty containers being left in the 'fridge/cupboard/freezer. I'm not going to shake everything each time I write a shopping list ffs.

To be fair to the girls they don't put their clothes in the washing basket like that, they just leave them on the floor in that state.

[Are we the same person, Dio? I've got to the point where clothes dropped or put to wash which have one leg or arm in and one out are washed that way. I also dry the clothes so if they can't be dried like that then I turn them inside out. I'm also allowed to put all the clothes away ~ so they get put away half and half or inside out ;-) ]
