Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I have no choice but to train on a treadmill until 3.5 weeks before a half marathon in April. I'm following a standard training plan - 1 longer run each week, 1 interval session, and 1 shorter run plus swimming and yoga in between. Any advice? I'm a bit worried.

It isn't ideal, you could use the opportunity to get the road under your feet. Why are you stuck on a treadie?

As long as you cdan cope with the boredom?

Some of us would put a 1-2% incline on the tready to increase resistance

It didn't do (former London Marathon winner) Ingrid Kristiansen any harm :)

I think it would be better to try to do at least some of those runs outdoors, but you can certainly do some effective training on a treadmill.

Welcome to Fetch. As far as I know you can train effectively on a treadmill - there are people on here who have done long runs of 20 miles or more on treadmills when it has been icy outside. I think that the main thing is to make sure you include a bit of uphill and changes in gradient in these runs, as that is what you get outside.

I do think the boredom is the main challenge. I've never managed more than 6 miles on a treadmill for that reason. But plenty of people do.

I would echo everyone else in that it would be beneficial to increase the gradient slightly to help replicate running outside. Welcome to fetch and good luck with your HM :-)

Also did 50km on a tready.

Music is good

Have enough to drink.

Don't feel the need to have the incline set to 1 all the time

Zero is for heros
