Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Jules what was the answer to the puzzle from the previous page? I’ve got Qh5+ to start? Not sure how it finishes.

Isn't it heartening when you play someone well above you in the rankings and they play like an utter tool? Makes up for the many times I've been the higher ranker and done the same. My game against SiebSieb is available for your amusement

Rook to e2? Forces either King onto row 1, or Queen to e2 to be taken by either Knight or Queen?

Rook to e2 looks good to me too, either gains queen or mate next move

Yup Re2+ is the next a snail move, let’s respond Kc1 as opp played, although as you say opp could give up his queen

One more key move to find.....

Meglet - I'm happy to accept your offer of a draw in our second cup game. It seems like a fair result given how evenly matched we've been over the two games. I just wanted to double-check though because I thought you needed a win to progress to the next round and it doesn't feel like we've reached a complete impasse yet. If it's any encouragement, I've made some shocking blunders in other games this week. Anyway, we can call it a draw if there are other games you'd rather concentrate on. Equally, I'm happy to continue for a bit longer if you'd like to continue your bid for cup glory.

Yes I offered a draw. We’ve been dancing around each other’s kings while trying not to give up pieces and I can’t see a solid way through! The alternative is giving up pieces and going to pawns I think.

I’m not overloaded with games so will play on for a bit if you prefer but I’m not fussed about the cup.
