Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Jules. Kc1? Mis-type? Or me being foggy-headed?

Mac - do you mean the Abs lists preferred Nxp to your Bxp+?

If Bxp+ then opp can go Kh1 & just lose the exchange (rook for bishop).
If Nxp then only square Queen can escape to is Qc8, then you win it with a discovered check Nd6

Meglet ... OK, let's play on for a few more moves. If we're still not getting anywhere, I'll offer the draw back.

Talking of draws ... rhb ... are you seeing a way forward in our game, because I'm struggling!

Crikey, yes, that would have been better! Still feels harsh to describe it as a blunder

Yep, Jules but it required him really not thinking through his previous move

Perfect JW & mate next move on g2.

Another suggestion was Qxp where it’s really hard/impossible to stop mate either on g2 or h1, but Qh3+ is prettier I’d say.

Nice winning combo Snail:)

Sorry, going back a bit... I'd also be up for a shake up that would involve playing a playing a larger variety of opponents. I can see the current set-up ending up just playing the same 5 or 6 people twice at least every other month.

Maybe things are pointing towards the original 'ladder' format we looked at at the beginning, though basing it just on rating wouldn't work as you could climb the ladder without actually playing anyone in it.

I was wondering if there's a fair way of playing opps as black OR white , so once per month in larger divisions rather than 2 so that there could be increased variety of opponent. I haven't come up with how that could be decided yet though!
