Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sitting in the garden watching the greenfinches feeding their fledgling. It is a noisy, persistent bugger 😃

For some reason we've had loads of swifts over the garden in the last few days, far more than a month or so ago.

After yesterday's help (thanks!), I caught some of our young starling visitors today.
Having a bit of a spat at the (new) fat ball feeder. This one has a smaller grid, so the jackdaws and ravens, so far, don't empty it in 2 mins.

And when things had clmed down a bit, at the 'pool'

I just noticed lots of cherry stones in one of my birdbaths.

The birds I hear mostly when out and about at the moment are chiffchaffs.

Need ID help pse with bird of prey on a thermal. South west England, inland but close to river. Russet wings, smaller than a buzzard definite white colouring at base of trail. Think tail was forked but not sure. Thought red kite but couldn't see white markings on pics.

Starlings are the species that monopolise my bird feeder too. These photos are from a few weeks ago but not much has changed since then.

I find it interesting that the starlings seem to fight amongst themselves but ignore other species who come to my feeder. Odd.

I've checked back and think it must've been a female kestrel, which I wondered about at the time. It wasn't flying like a kestrel usually does around that particular area.

Worth thinking about sparrowhawk if you see soaring small - medium raptors Red. Female is a decent size. King tail and kind of rounded wings
