Oh. You’ve heard of Patricia Cornwell (who I really don’t rate) and Tess Gerritsen (for whom I have a soft spot)? Kathy Reichs?

It’s a genre I rather enjoy both on telly and in novels. Telly I especially enjoyed Bones (based on the Kathy Reichs novels) and Body of Proof. Not so much Rizzoli and Isles (based on the Tess Gerritsen novels)

NCIS also has a strong undercurrent of ‘ME as hero’ - Mallard and Palmer in the original, Wade in New Orleans, Penrose in Sydney.

Heard of them all, and I thought I'd never read any. I was going to say that I tried a bit of one of the Kay Scarpetta books and when I checked the spelling I discovered that this was one of Cornwell's characters. I didn't get on with it.

I guess this is another one of those areas where we have no overlap.

(I was thinking Kay Scarpetta was another novelist in the genre)

I thought I had Karin Slaughter on my shelf appears not.
Read Tess recently which I liked but disappointed the male Detective that featured isn't in much of the later books

I do have one Kathy Reichs book

I do love this genre too especially the forensic side of things

I've read Patricia Cornwell and enjoyed the first one. But the books got gradually more unpleasant so I stopped. Haven't tried Karin Slaughter or Tess Gerritson. My guilty pleasure was the Stephanie Plum series though I think I only got as far as the 7th or 8th.

One of the reasons I had heard of Karin Slaughter is because she was the first guess on a podcast I listen to, Writer's Routine. That show is coming up to 250 episodes and I think the host said that Karin is coming back on for a special episode.

Stephanie Plum, Little Nemo. Janet Evanovitch yeah? I discovered her via book exchanges while travelling. Probably got as far as 8 or 10 too. I like her - breath of fresh air in the crime genre. Love the granny character. “Who trod on a duck?” 😀
