Also have run to get the car back from the garage. That sort of thing. I did buy some toilet rolls once, and ran them home in a backpack

Just glad I didn't get lost or I would have been popular!

I have run back from the chippy while staying away for work, I was also carrying sandwiches and a chocolate bar for the next days lunch.

And I've done the "drop off the car at the garage and run home" approach by picking a garage that is a suitable distance away. Also if I'm out with the family shopping or something similar, I've arranged to run back home from time to time to help things fit in better.
