I wrote him a letter when I was about 18 and thought I was going to uni in Australia (and hence would never have contact with Great Britain ever again? Folly of youth) to say thank you for all the great programmes. Bizarrely, they played a song by him on Radio 6 last night. I thought, "That singer sounds just like Brian Cant." But obviously it couldn't be. And it was. Then they said it was in memory of the late Brian Cant. I was somewhat taken aback RIP.
