Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

HOD, on top of the advice given here, sometimes forget about pose, go out, relax and enjoy it. Sometimes things just click into place when you do that.

OK so I made a quick video clip in the morning.

As mentioned before I looked at POSE etc a year ago, but never really got into it. Had a long break from running, looking to get back into it. Taking a starting from scratch strategy.
Thought it is good time to pay attention to form. I have always ran in Asics Gel Kayano's and am a heel striker. I do own a pair of flites.
I took the flites today, and tried running on BOF. That is what the video is. I have not done any drills, or anything else like that, literally taking the flites and tried running BOF.

I am just wondering what people think of this, and when I start my training again next week, if I should go out in the flites and train in them. For the first month I am not going to run more than 3miles <70% HR.

Video Link:

(have edited it to make it shorter, just ran back and forth, gradually speeding up a bit)

A link to how I ran a year ago:

Any thoughts appreciated! Thanks! :)

Tabzz: I think the 1st bit of advice you will get is don't try to run BOF. Do the drills to get the perception hardwired into your legs, then go oiut and relax and enjoy a short run. The repeat. It won't happen overnight, unless your really good, BUT it will happen with time, practice and patience.

A couple of things from the clip, bear in mind I'm not a coach.

Top to bottom.

1)Relax your shoulders, you look hunched up.
2)Push the hips forward.
3)You appear to be reaching for the ground to land.
4)Sort 1 and 2 out and 3 will come

Thanks for the advice. As I said I have never really looked at form before. So have got alot to learn, and improve on.

That being said, do you think I should be working on those 3 things, practicing drills and going out running in the flites? and ditch the asics?

Tabzz,

I am not on computer so have not seen your vids...but in regards to you going out to run on the BOF. This is not something you want to do :( The landing on the BOF prescribed by Pose Method is a result of our body weight being directly over the BOf at landing. If you are attempting to land on the BOF without the foot staying under you then you are asking for trouble. Be patient with your form modificationsm when I get to see your vids I will make some recommendations.

Tabzz, I started pose drills in flites then started running in them. This coincided with a calf tear. Speak to your POSE coach about how to gradually use them. They might well say that your form is good enough to race in them.

They are awesome shoes!

Tabz I'm CERTAINLY not a coach however just learning like you.

Been assessed in my running style and es as Dave says Relax your SHoulders and don't reach for floor (2 of mine)

Also in laymans my terms it should be less noisey I've noticed I've done that the knees in alinement therefore quicker turnover of feet.

Also the old straight leg landing is something to avoid.

If you go to a coach at least once this will help honestly.

If you want to get people to watch you running - you need to video yourself using your mobile phone or digital camera. Side on, full length for a few strides, is sufficient. Use a cloud storage system as discussed here

And share the file with a coach or coaches for constructive comment, either in private or on the thread if you dare.
