Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes CT I practiced it walking to the GP yesterday and it does feel much better....well easier and lighter. I think I managed to bring it across in my running last night as I had the same feeling when I was running.

Shoes and lack of them do not necessarily make you suddenly run naturally, it just shows up your pain or injury quicker! More minimal shoes, whilst working on technique & changing perceptions are beneficial-I'm not convinced you need transitional shoes, better to use transitional mileage.ie build up slowly to allow your body to adapt, flex and strengthen-something no shoe can do for you.

Good link BVR.

I don't, of course, need any persuading of the virtues of Inov-8 shoes. It is debatable though whether runners really need a range of shoes to transition them to a more minimalist model. As eL Bee! pointed out to me, the fact that I'd put 800 miles on one pair of f-lite 230s and 500 on the other meant that I was unlikely to have much of an issue with the 195s, since my existing shoes had already been flattened out by use.

Similarly, I don't think the new models are likely to be better road shoes than the f-lite, although I appreciate that by making them look more like traditional road shoes the company may be able to broaden its appeal, which can't be a bad thing.

That's the pic I was trying to refer to a wee way back, the new Inov-8 poster listing heel drops of their various different shoes. I'm going to Gallery it, cos it's really interesting. :-)G

The key omission from the article is that you need guidance when changing running style.

Even with the best coaching I have picked up injuries through poor form. Imagine if I thought it was as simple as transition shoes?
If anyone just buys a new pair of inov8s, I think they will get injured, lots.

I hope I'm wrong.

If you want to get people to watch you running - you need to video yourself using your mobile phone or digital camera. Side on, full length for a few strides, is sufficient. Use a cloud storage system as discussed here
