I've heard there's a 7hr recce for the first 10km today, I'm assuming that its gonna be a tough course then Think I've got the easy option doing the Winter 100 that day.

You know that moment when there is less time between now and the start than there is between the start and the finish? For example 36 hours before the start of the Spartathlon; I call this the event horizon. The feeling of slipping into a black hole where the only way out is through the other side at the end. It is a time of nervous excitement and panic. Question is, those who are running the Piece of String from this Friday, have they already fallen in?

I'm getting to my race a bit early next week just to see their happy smiling faces. The Rd's of course, not the runners, they'll be crying in pain....

I'm feeling a wee bit nervous and am wondering what I have let myself in for......... hopefully won't get lost as I certainly don't want to add more miles

Well, you won't really know if you've added more miles or not, will you? It's kind of irrelevant since you don't know how far your going. I suppose this is a good thing, because you won't beat yourself up too much for adding on detours
