Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Yes thanks i prefer it that way as you have to scroll back up to go to other unread threads as the your watch list bit is up top of page.

Thereโ€™s a copy of your unread thread list below the posting box. Sometimes easier to scroll down instead of up.

My poor assumption, sorry. I am used to keyboard shortcuts to go to the top of the page, but I spend all my day doing it.

Must admit I'm not a fan of the text box retaining your last post text. Maybe it's just me; I can see the advantage of it storing drafts which you forgot to post, but each time I'm returning to a thread there is prepopulated text even if I had in fact posted the inane dribble that I've prepared.

It's a bug.

The system has worked correctly about 25,000 times, but failed to wipe the stored draft about 80 times. I'm trying to figure out what's happening. I think it's a 'race condition' situation:

Ah I thought it was just me. It only happened on one thread but it was beginning to get on my nerves ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I've done some tuning. It only bothers making a backup now if you've typed at least 50 characters (any less and I figure it's not such a hardship to re-type - this was brought in to save people from losing long posts); and it only performs a backup once every 30 seconds (was previously 15). And I've added some extra beef to the 'clear my draft' code that gets executed when you submit your post.
