Does Lancaster finish at the castle? If so the hill is brutal.

It's called the Lancaster castle marathon, so I'm guessing it does.

Oh, it does, but looks like only 25m total climb? Not too bad?

See that bit after 26 miles where it goes to the bit called Lancaster Castle on monsenb's route - I think that''ll be the bit where it finishes at the Castle ;-)

My pb was at Bournemouth Happy. There is a hill but it's pretty flat nonetheless and is lovely to visit. First weekend in October and expensive to get into but its a thought. And Richmond as someone has mentioned (sorry for not scrolling back) is possible

Having found a plan I fancied following and a prospective marathon (remembrance Day in weybridge) I have now lost the printout and can't find it again. It was one of those nothing over 16-18 ones but with lots of regular ten milers. I fancied giving it a go too I don't think I do enough mileage generally so doing more not so long runs I hoped would mean less recovery and risk of injury

I went up that hill at the end of the Trimpell 20 - it's steep! I walked - then if you finish within the castle you also have the delights of cobbles just at the end. That said the rest of the course was pretty flat apart from the bit on the new bypass which was not that nice, although admittedly mostly because of the headwind. I think it's the only time I have managed to run slowly up a hill only to have to walk on the downhill...
