Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ok, given that some of us now have to wear one in specific circs - any recommendations?

either re making your own or good/reputable/charitable places to buy.

Thought my ten year old red and black buff with dragons, along with a bandanna or two might do. But perhaps not?

Will you fold the material double and that will suffice, AL?

Am thinking the WHO advice means as an O 60 I have to take it seriously.

WHO advice
The organisation said its new guidance had been prompted by studies over recent weeks.

Dr Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO's technical lead expert on Covid-19, told Reuters news agency the recommendation was for people to wear a "fabric mask - that is, a non-medical mask".

Fabric masks should consist of "at least three layers of different material" in order to be effective, the WHO says.

However, those aged over-60 and with underlying health risks should wear medical masks in areas where there is community transmission.

I was going to use a buff. Wasn't aware of the three layers so thanks for pointing that out. Mini RR made one shown on News round the other day which included kitchen roll a a layer so maybe I'll stick some of that in there. Somehow.

There are details about the three layers thing somewhere - I'll see if I can link.

I'm not obsessive but I'd like to be ready when I DO have to wear one - eg on public transport and (it's coming I think) in many shops.
