I *think* you have to write down your experience on your entry

It says:

1. Your entry will only be accepted if you are an experienced long distance / ultra runner
2. You must have already completed 50+ mile events
3. You should show a sufficient level of speed in past events to indicate your ability to reach cut offs within time limits
4. You will be asked to show past results and justify your acceptance into the event

But I wondered what point 3 actually meant in practice.

(Not planning this for next year btw)

If you can claim say a sub-20 hour Fellsman, a sub-40 hour LDWA 100 or a successful BG you would appear to have what it takes (possibly)

I think that in terms of the Lakeland 50 they expect a sub 15 hour completion before you do the 100 BUT I can' t find that documented anywhere.

Hmm. I wonder if that means my two 15 hour + lakeland 50s will prevent me getting into the LD100 in 2016, irrespective of what I do in the next 12 months.

Sorry I don't know. I'm going off what seemed to be the chat at the 50 this year. I'd enter and see what happens.

Yeah, thanks FF. I'll try to get some better times in 2015 (but not the Lakeland 50), and enter the LD100 next year, and see what they say.

I don't think there's any strict rules re times etc. and that they just take a common sense view of the experience. I've not aware of anyone ever having their experience challenged.

I got in initially with a (injured) 18 hr L50 but a pile of other long events (all less than 100)

Andy Cole is very wise and his recommendation is a good indicator of success at the Lakeland 100 (105) is a sub-13 Lakeland 50

It's interesting; I'm told that a well known fell hard man has times for long Lakeland races etc which he believes BG candidates should / must be able to reach to make an attempt of the round worthwhile. I'm not sure what these events and times are but I've been meaning to find out for years

I would have thought there are quite a few people who'd struggle at sub-13 for L50 who'd eat the 100. Conversely plenty of 10 to 12 hour 50'ers would never complete the 100. They're very different disciplines imo
