if in doubt seek a medical opinion from a qualified doctor as oppossed to some helpful runners on an internet forum. Running/playing sport with an injury however slight it may seem can exacerbate the injury further or result in secondary injuries due to muscle compensation.

Sound advice, just that I had a knee issue a few years back and the doctor was useless I shouldn't hold that against all other doctors though, I know. Should make an appointment there and just ask to see someone else.

A good GP will refer you to a Physio (if they're not like CT who's clever with biomechanics;-))

Mr. K.
Football the curse of the running class. Hope you get it sorted HB. There are a couple of good (IMO) physios in Farnham & Upper Hale area. |

OK i cannot work out where you are pointing to. If it is the medial joint line then it its likely to be cartialage 6 weeks and you risk locking...... Football is bad for cartialage. If it its above medial joint line then the ligament is the likely source. Not so bad. You can run on it (not football though) and it will pass of in 2-4 weeks. I am a doctor. I have a certificate and everything |

I had a sore knee a few years back, right where you point to(but my knee, not yours !!). Was sore when I fully straightened my leg and locked the knee. Physio said catrilidge damage you need an op. Dont run another step - real scaremonger. She also knew a good surgeon alledgedly I stopped running and went for scans and saw a specialist - but my doctor and healthcare provider insisted I went elsewhere and not the good surgeon. Seven weeks later it was still sore and the specialist said nothing in the scans to warrant an op, we dont know why it hurts, no need to refrain from running, come back if it gets worse I started running again It got better I consult a different physio now Srsly, suspect I was lucky, I had fallen when running in the week before it got sore and suspect I twisted it and it got better in time, hope you have a similar positive outcome |

Sadly there is no real standard for sporting knee injury and you get allot of that sort of thing

I gathered that CT - my gripe was that I saw this lady (who came with great credentials BTW looking after a national team) for less than 10 mins and the examination was circa 2 mins. This surgeon also came with great knee credentials having fixed a top footy and rugby star Botom line was she gave me shite advice |

Yeah, my previous knee trouble involved the doctor saying various things, all wrong, went to someone else and it was all sorted quickly. Have made an appointment to see a different doctor on Thursday. Will not run on it before then. Miffed I took those photo's and cabletow isn't sure where I am pointing to, might try and sign up for a photography course! Looking at images on google it looks exactly on the line though |
