Usually I'm really good about checking the weather and wind speed pretty much right up until before we set out. This time, because I was staying overnight, and meeting my fellow boarder on site the morning of the paddle, I only checked before I left home on Sunday. Bit of a mistake. But it certainly gave us a bit more experience of a tougher paddling session! It crossed my mind we may need to abandon the river and walk the boards home, but fortunately it didn't come to that.
