I'll sit on the fence regarding Parkruns, but they certainly should not be included in Fetch Club Championship itinery; e.g. FERC.

I can't edit the thread header, but to stop this descending into another are they aren't they races discussion:
"How many races have you done (according to Fetch, in the page in your profile where it shows what races you have logged)?

Surely such debate is healthy, HB? If you feel the thread is going off track, that is always a possible consequence of behaviour in a public forum.

99. ParkRuns are races - just 'free' ones.

Most of the 5Ks are parkruns.

Phil, why shouldn't they count for championships? Are they somehow easier than other 5k runs?

I've done 14 park runs, very definitely a race for me and also a huge part of my personal progress.

It depends on how your club championships work. I can see a case for not including them.
Not all Parkruns are officially measured. However, many are very close now. This is one problem.
One other is that if, like our club championships, you calculate the score as % of the winners time, Parkruns have a better chance of providing a statistically anomalous result, since they are often won in slower times than 'official' races.

Rather clog the thread up with the various distances I've raced over since 1974. According to Fetch I've done a total of 292 races. As I'm too lazy to log absolutely everything I've done over the past 38 years there are 868 races not listed on Fetch. Therefore my real total is 1160. PS 96 parkruns in that total.

Well done, mxhornet - what a veteran!
I agree that if Parkruns are listed in Fetch as a race, they have to be counted. The question posed being, 'How many races have you done (according to Fetch)?' My personal opinion is that I don't think they are races in the sense of the word. Then again, how many training runs do you accurately measure to be 5 miles, 10km, 13.1 miles, etc.? You could argue that these are unofficial (Park)runs.
