We had a really enjoyable game. Plenty of chat and mutual encouragement. I was one up coming down the last and I'm convinced he played for the half so he didn't have to play extra holes. He habitually takes two practice swings and didn't take any, his putting is always dependable, his approach putt finished 10 feet away and he left the next one 4 feet away.

I thoroughly enjoyed the US Open (except for the time zone effect 😮). Nice to see these guys struggle sometimes, and you honestly had no idea who was going to win, right up until JJ Spaun's tee shot on 18 found the fairway. Well in XB. You getting 3 rounds a week in now (after a peek at training log)? Nice, I envy that. Very much a Saturday-only routine here, come rain or shine. And it was rain on Saturday. It was really solidly all morning, but when it's your only round of the week... Teed off after 10.00, we got 5 holes in before they closed the course and abandoned the comp altogether. I'd made a birdie and was one ahead of handicap - but my mate made a Hole in One, and now it'll disappear without trace from the golfing record 🤣. Conditions were not great, to be fair: |

A hole in one wiped from the records. I’m not sure I could get over that, ever!

it still counts! If you had a 1 in a social, scorecard-less round you'd still count it, surely! For the record I never had one. 20+ years of playing off 5 or less. Never had one. Not bitter at all, honest. I mean, I've seen what feels like hundreds including a friend of mine holing a driver on the fly on a 220 yarder playing straight in to the wind. On the fly with a driver, LOL!!! |

It's funny how little it seems to correlate with skill. I mean obviously you have a greater chance the better you are. But it's still a lottery with slim odds, even for the best golfers. WW - yet another reason for you to dust off the bats and get out there again ![]() |
