Sitting here finishing the race briefing pack for year three of the race. Can't believe its in to its 3rd running and getting more popular year on year. This year will see us having the number of runners we designed the race for and a much busier base camp. We'll be screening some running films on the Friday night; the lovely folks at X-Bionic are supporting us and have given us some very cool prizes; lots of the Scottish ultra marathon Race Directors will be in attendance as usual along with lots of fabulous helpers; our trail running shop Out-Run will be there which is cool as we didn't exist this time last year; Dr Andrew Murray is back on medic duties and there will no doubt be some more glow-stick inspired raving at the midway water station. Oh, and don't forget the famous Glenmore Horn! Bring on the 7th September and the usual three days without any sleep. |

Thanks to all the runners who came along this weekend and to everyone who helped on the day(s) and behind the scenes to make it possible. I've included the top placings below, full results are now available on the website with splits to come once I've had a chance to catch up on sleep. For anyone wondering why this bunch of loons decide to run round a forest for 24 hours, there's some cracking pictures from this year's race here: facebook.com When we started this race we had 27 foolhardy souls willing to give it a go and this year we had 81, so it was amazing to see the course and base camp area looking fuller than ever. We're trying to grow the race gradually to make sure we don't lose the atmosphere we like to have at our races, so I think we'll see if we can find 100 loons to do it next year. This year saw course records falling again and the return of our 2011 Champ Jeroen Renes to take part in the 12 hour race as a warm-up for Spartathlon. We also had a world record set by a proper pair of dafties and some familiar faces returning for the 3rd year. Anyway, results: 24 Hour Race 1st Male, Mark Leggett, 133.10 miles ~ 1st Female, Noanie Heffron, 126.21 miles 2nd Male, Roly McCraw, 118.22 miles ~ 2nd Female, Jo Rae, 114.53 miles 3rd Male, Alan Johnstone, 104.32 miles ~ 3rd Female, Rosie Bell, 113.99 miles 12 Hour Race 1st Male, Jeroen Renes, 80.03 miles ~ 1st Female, Antonia Johnson, 75.07 miles 2nd Male, David Gallie, 78.36 miles ~ 2nd Female, Melanie Sinclair, 68.05 miles 3rd Male, Andy Johns, 72.24 miles ~ 3rd Female, Caroline McKay, 66.90 miles Cheers, Mike. |
