Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well done tagazou. As .B. said, that's a great time for a first 10km. Good luck for your next challenges.

Well done on your race tagazou medal bunting and thanks for updating us. If you felt you were running the second half as well as you could, suggests you got the first half right :-).

Hi thanks so much!!!!!!! really encourging.

But now thinking I am more suited to ploding round a half marathon than trying to speed round a 10k. :-)
There is one near me in a months time, do you think I would be mad to give it a go?

Do I need to get some serious distance under the belt, or could i build up gently between now and then??

I ran my first half a month after a 10K. I was checking Scottish Athletics to see if the results were up and saw it listed and thought "I wonder...". So the Sunday after I set out to run further and ended up with 15km and though I really struggled at the end and had very sore feet, I reckoned I could get round :-).

My other long run was 12 km and then I did the race and it really was hard after ten miles but I did it (and it's not even my slowest time on that course, never mind overall).

So ... Maybe you can, but don't be surprised if it hurts ;-)

That seems logical Dvorak!
I might see how much running I can get in in the next week or so and see if I'm feeling brave (or foolish) but after that there no more races that distance here, it is all trail running.

If you want to do it I'd go for it. I'd expect the last three miles to be quite painful (to be honest they always are) with only a month to train in. But if that doesn't put you off, no reason not to.
