Whether earphones are permitted depends on the race. I think you will find, though, that you *can* run without music - you've never done a 10km race before and you will be surprised by how much is going on. You won't notice that you don't have music. The smileys, and how to make them, should all be listed in this group. http://www.fetcheveryone.com/groups-view.php?id=878 |

I always thought I couldn't run without music or carrying water but you can and it even helps when you don't as it makes you more aware of your surroundings

Or run with only one earphone in so you have your beat but can hear what is going on around you as well?

Yeah, that's what I tend to do most of the time in fact. I fnd that when the going gets really tough, the rhythm of the music really helps! |

Hi 1st race over. I didn't explode halfway round. I did 57minutes; the same time as when I did a time trial. I think I was so concentrating on not over doing things at the begining that I could maybe have gone a bit faster. but on the other hand I couldn't really have pushed any harder durung the second half, so maybe that was the right thing to do anyway.. But I did enjoy it! and all your advice really was helpful. For next race probably looking more at changing training and doing a half marathon. Feel more comfortable maybe longer and slower, thatn trying to faster for the 10ks! But was a great experience and I so much appreciated the advice and encourgments here. Thnaks guys! |
