Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I’m still to find my first brilliancy. Maybe I should start sacking pieces left right and centre in the hope that the be might turn out to be sound.

Was Qxa7 not a 960 Brilliancy James?

It certainly was in my eyes! One of those games is still dragging on, my opponent has 100 games ongoing and takes the full 3 days. A whole rook down with no compensation. To be fair he had a bit of an attack until recently but it’s petered out now.

jda/ Jules - Why would Qxa7 have been brilliant? Queen was safe?

Gobi et al - The ladder was supposed to replace the league. If people want the league then there probably needs to be some discussion about how it runs and who will be involved in the setup.

If people want more games I can create a league cup to start end of the / beginning of next week. Something like 5 per group, 2 day per move with 1 or 2 to go through to the next round (all could change based on numbers).

Jules was joking I'm sure. I was feeling pleased with myself to win a rook, twice, in the same way against the same opponent though. I guess chess computers might not have a good feel for "easily overlooked blunder" though.

With the ladder you only get one game, whereas the league got you more games simultaneously. At the moment I am in a couple of the tournaments so I have enough games but it's a balance for me.

I just finished a friendly with David-48.

David plays very nicely if anyone fancies a new challenge. And he doesn’t take anything like 7 days per move (unless he’s going off on long road trips!).

Thanks for the game.
