Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

afternoon :-)

2 heats sound good. there perhaps needs to be a fast race (sub-7? in my eyes, that is chuffing fast!) and a slow race. i would like to do it somewhere near 9 mins but i don't want to get in the way of the faster affleets :-)

sunday 16th dec
12.30pm outside moorways track derby for 1.00pm start
cost £28/number of people running (plus a few bob to cover kiddies prizes)
anyone welcome (although you do have to be able to say "ey up, me duck" in a convincing accent)

Barky + LB
Thornton Runner (probably plus two Juniors - that is TR def., 2JuniorTRs prob )
orbital sander (1 bubs up for 400m junior race although she is only 3 so 100m for very small peeps?)
Boycie (possibly plus supporters)
JackRubysDog (plus supporters, possibly)
racing snail? (and raging bull?)
spaceman
beast (plus mini beast for kiddies race)
slickster?
chrisity (plus OH and kids)
firestarter

Heats is a good idea - you want to avoid anyone being lapped if possible! For example anyone running 6:40 or over will be lapped by someone running a 5 minute mile!

I'm guessing sub 6.30 in one heat

then the issue again presents itself if there are people running 8:40 or over!

Would there be enough for 3 heats?

sub 6.30

6.30 - 8.30

8.30 +

What do people think?

how about some other events, maybe a 400m where the winner is the one who finishes closest to 3 mins (no watches)? agree with 2 heats for the mile as OH will not enjoy being lapped by me ;-)

just ask people on the day for an estimated time and divide from there.

it would be nice to have proper timekeepers for each race who can note lap times for each person as well as total time (needs two people, one to write and one to shout out times.)

ooooooh! please let's have different ability groups.

potentially i could be lapped twice by the good 'uns

the reason i gave up PE in general was because even the fat kids beat me in school athletics - annual humiliation until i worked out a way to sneak off after getting changed and reappear before the end of the lesson :-)
