I'm Newting. I've wanted to improve my Welsh for ages (I'm half Welsh, sing Welsh songs to my daughter and can belt out the anthem at the rugby and read road signs etc, but my conversational Welsh is shocking). My crewmate at work is also half Welsh but her mum is a native speaker. Hearing her chat to her mum on the phone the other day made me think I really must improve, and this thread has given me the kick up the backside I needed. Duolingo it is!

Yes probably. Although I think she assumes I know more than I do! I think I need to get a bit better than "Hello dragon, how are you?" first though! I love languages though and was once fluent in French and Spanish, with passable German and Italian, and a smattering of Russian. Time, motherhood and work have eroded that to fluent Spanish and passable Italian and French. I'm looking forward to a new challenge!

I'm thinking maybe do a bit of yoga each day, or at least take a few minutes to be still and focus on nothing but breathing. Or maybe something else. I'll have a bit more of a think.

Another premature Newt- made scotch pancakes for the first time. The girls wanted pancakes with maple syrup and bacon (bleurgh). Being the good mum that I am, I obliged.

I am newting! I have been playing a bit of keyboard as c9 is learning but it’s annoying as lots of the pieces are outside the range of the keyboard. And you can’t really vary soft and loud without using the volume. So I am going to take a few pieces to the library tomorrow, where there is a nicely tuned piano for public use. Maybe.

Or you could go to St Pancras station Dipps, where there are a number of public pianos.

*gets coat and tails* I’m not really public performance standard but it would be a treat to be able to practice some of my grade 4-6 pieces again properly
