Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

C Block - there's no place like it.

Our chief’s bio mentions that he’s ‘public order cadre’, not a skill he uses much now I guess tho he is good at keeping meetings in check.

Bet he doesn't say it often though.

What is it with Chief Officers and their obsession to pretend to be 'just another copper'. Think our Dep keeps his MAT training up to date - he certainly used to have a riot shield in his office.

I have been in meetings held in an office where the resident officer kept his sword. He never used it tho, he is a lovely man.

My first comms boss, a fiery Texan, had a baseball bat in his office and had a reputation for using it to smash stuff/desks when he was unhappy. He never used it for general distraction when I worked with him but would sometimes play with it if a meeting wasn’t going well. And I once saw him marching off with said bat in a very determined manner in the direction of General Counsel’s office. Ah banking.

I am not, and never have been, a police officer.

I keep a whip on my desk at work.

You might like to let your teams know about the internal communications unit’s latest product – a virtual “message wall” on [Intranet] for people to leave little thank-you notes to colleagues who’ve helped them out. In this season of goodwill, it’s quite heartening to read some of the messages!
