Thanks. Will just see how it goes....

Vrap I think for my body to get accustomed to the mechanics of off road running again would suggest I have actually run off road before :-o

I thought off-road running would be your staple diet, Mr Terminator, based on your geographical location :)

Anyway. I think you can do the event, and probably do it quite well :)

The road is my mistress.

Thanks Vrap.

Going to run round field 3 times this afternoon. 2.1 miles. Grass is off road right :-)

Just seen this thread and felt the need to post based on my own experiences about broken toes.

TT end of the day you should have a good idea re your fitness and and whether your up to the job.

I broke one on my toes on a shopping trolly filled with compost, was wearing flip flops looked left the trolly stopped and my right foot carried on. You could hear the bone snap like a lolly pop stick..............d'oh. Went and saw my doctor the next day as I had London in 2 weeks. She explained that really there is nothing you can do about it and if you still want to run that's up to you. Pointing out the obvious ran a sub 4 hr marathon in stupid heat and missed out on the sub 3.30 I was looking at.

Snapped another toe playing football 3 weeks before this years Cardiff ultra and managed a sub 10 hr 50 miler .................

The lesson for me is to stop playing football me thinks .

Whatever you choose good luck :-)

Cheers guys. Would still love to know how you would approach it Gobi, I do still want to run it I won't lie but am happy to listen to my body and will make a decision in 3 weeks like I said. Won't be doing any 'long' runs before then and will keep fitness ticking over by continuing to do plenty of bike miles too ...
