SFL, that's why I was suggesting that the Novichok use for Skripal was as a kind of 'show' assassination - it's far too difficult a method to use for convenience (I should point out here that I am not speaking from personal experience ).

They were probably a bit frustrated that so many recent murders had been brushed under the carpet as natural deaths by the brits.

Salisbury is Putin flexing his muscles reminding everyone he is tough and strong. 2 years ago my wife was working in Cyprus. I went over there most weekends to visit, and went to a restaurant which what I can only describe as a shrine to Vladimir Putin. I asked why, and was told “he’s a strong Orthodox leader”. |

J2R - agreed it looks like a show assassination and therefore has the hallmarks of the Putin/Russian state (Litvinenko), which is the most likely. But also the hallmarks of mafia/dissident elements. Or perhaps a psychotic ex boyfriend targetting an ex girlfriend and who happened to be a secret service agent (and might have access to such things) would definitely also fit... dailymail.co.uk I mean when the German airliner went into the side of a mountain, terrorism was the top of everybody's list for days until they twigged it was just another jilted boyfriend with mental health issues. |

(above article alleges it was the boyfriend's mother who thought she was the daughter of a traitor). I mean the whole killing is insane whichever angle you want to play it. Hence there is the element of doubt. The strong element of doubt.

Or it could just be that Skripal's cat Boris crapped in his neighbours rose bed and the neighbour just happened to work at Porton.......

The proximity of Porton down raises an eyebrow. They also have now been given funding for a new building seeing as nerve agents are popular again.

That's leaving aside the obvious question as to why a Soviet double agent chose to live in Salisbury, which as you say, is right next to Porton. If he wanted twee English market town he could have chosen a lot of places. Hartlepool for example....

Yeah and then the tinfoil hat brigade would have come up with some story about guacamole or mandelson.
