TV weather forecasts. Hello! the clue's in the name. Don't spend 5 minutes telling me what the weather has been like today, I already know. Concentrate on trying to get it right for tomorrow. Or the next day. Don't even bother guessing what it might be doing after that because that's all you are doing, making a guess. You get it so wrong, so often I am amazed that you are still allowed to broadcast.

MBB is just about a foul-mouthed elderly woman. I wonder if Catherine Tate is amused by them nicking her idea.

The phrase 'nitty gritty'
Also when you tune into the weather forecast and it's not the glorious and divine Helen Willets....

What's so particularly gear-grinding about 'nitty gritty'?
I was at a party once where I met a very glamorous and very drunk woman who was starting work training to do tv weather the next week. Can't for the life of me remember her name. Evil sense of humour; was taking her OH away for the weekend for his 30th birthday, told him to bring his passport, was taking him to Bristol to meet up with all his university mates. I can see how that might have misfired a bit.

Crikey. Reminds me of the Viz phrase 'like two puppies fighting in a bag'
No class, and definitely no Helen Willets.
Back to the thread....people who ninny about when making a cup of tea. Have 2 or 3 of them in our office, seem to ninny about for hours every time. Not really sure exactly what they do to spin it out for so long, it's definitely an art. If you ever waiting for them to finish before your turn, it doesn't half grind your gears
(especially as I usually leave it to the last 45 seconds before an audio call before dashing into the kitchen area to make one, in which case there's ALWAYS one of these plums there going through their interminably slow routine)

Nitty Gritty - There's some rather offensive connotation relating to slave ships, I believe
