Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I love Lidl/Aldi. The no bags thing doesn't bother me at all, (I'm a reasonably functioning adult man, I can pack my own bags!)I just follow JKC's housemate's approach.

I'm usually on foot, so I never have a huge shop and stuff the items into a rucksack in an ultra-speedy fashion. I've been to Aldi and Lidl today - both unusual visits for me. I am disappointed most of the time too but occasionally find something nice.

Aldi's good for cheap staples, for some reason I don't like Lidl stuff. The supermarket I really dislike is Asda because every time I go there they've moved stuff and it's never in any logical sort of pattern or order.

I just have a pathological hatred of Asda & its customers in particular and annoyingly it is our closest supermarket. I'd rather drive 10 minutes further than go there. :-(

Asda is my local - a big old Walmart. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of being able to drive elsewhere - but that said the idiot customers there seem much the same as idiot customers in the city centre shops...

Mind you, I'm a bit of a misanthrope anyway...

Going back a few pages someone mentioned people missing 'the' or other words from sentences. Is it just me or have the 'seasoned traveller' brigade started calling the USA just USA and the UK just UK. As in, 'We get back to UK on xxx date'. That's annoying.

FS, the widespread US ignorance of the realties of anything outside the US will never cease to amuse/amaze the rest of the world.
