Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My mother thinking she has a right to comment on how I look; apparently I need to make more effort. I guess that the fact I am happy how I am doesn't count for much then? :-(

Non-teachers getting antsy about the fact that teachers lost a week's holiday back in the 1980s when their directed time was made to be over 195 days instead of the 190 that the kids have always had.

Being asked what I'm doing over Christmas. No one gives a flying one any other weekend (when the answer might be more interesting - an ironman, or running a marathon etc) yet when the answer is the utter tedium of either being at home, or at family's it seems to be of great interest.

Postmen or postwomen who fold all your cards in half, length way and then leave 1/3 of them sticking out the letterbox - in the pouring rain - so all your post is totally soaked by the time you get in several hours later

Raptors claws are coming to town
Being obliged to listen with the appearance of interest while people of less than borderline intelligence, or people who aren't out of their teens yet, come in and whine and moan and demand stuff.

I'm really good at that bit, V. Perhaps we can jobshare? I think it would be good for people to never be sure whether they'll get the empathetic one who makes you feel good but prescribes Day Nurse or Canesten for everything from your infected tonsils to angina or the ratty, impatient one who gives you the right treatment for your condition - another interesting dimension to the "health lottery"?

Ah, Jen, I think you have a slightly rose-tinted view of the population I'm referring to. People who are actually ill, even a little bit, and happy to be fobbed off with antibiotics and vitamins, are a delight :)

Curses - another job opportunity I can't take up to broaden my portfolio. I was so looking forward to testing the placebo effect too, not to mention watching male patients struggle to understand how Canesten pessaries work :-)
