Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Chrimbo, Crimble and variants thereof. C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S. It's not that difficult if you concentrate a little bit. And "Ecksmas", which should surely be saved for when the people of Scotland are obliged to celebrate the birth of their president.

Nigel Slater. I love his books, I just look at him on telly and he infuriates me! Wash and cut your hair, have a face transplant and get that appalling, annoying voice dubbed or do the thing in mime or something. And dates should not be wrapped in bacon and fried and put in a sandwich, FFS!

I made one of his recipes for Sunday lunch once.

It's still referred to in hushed tone as, "the mustard sausage incident." :-o

I love Nigel Slater's recipes, and find him infinitely more watchable than Nigella....who I want to punch whenever she's on the screen.

I do like Nigel Slater, though I'm very much with Terry Wogan on the "Who on earth has a pheasant in the leftovers?" question. But I struggled to imagine MR L's face if he'd bitten into what he imagned was a pig in a blanket and found a date instead of a sausage :-0 Almost worth doing...

All these people cooking with long hair - slated Slater, Nigella; even my beloved Anjum. I can't believe it never falls in the food they're cooking. [Insert vomit face]
