Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

And is there a separate men only record?

I would like to echo JoviRunner's comment about the useless BBC referring to a new WR when they meant a new course record. Also another moan - this morning on R4 - sports reporter talking about "The Marathon" rather than the London Marathon as if none of the others exist.

@tonyp2604 - they did no such thing. It wasn't a course record (that's held by Paula Radcliffe), it was the women-only world record.

iaaf.org

The issue that I and others have is that such a thing actually exists.

It makes sense to me. Paula herself explained how she 'raced' men in previous marathons. The reason is because that can be seen as pacing. Therefore a separate record seems correct to differentiate.

Sorry, I still don't see why when there are pacers anyway. Makes no sense to me.

In other news I've just asked my neighbour not to use our drive and he said OK. (Adrenaline is still going strong though, probably in both houses). I think the timing was right because he's just dug up his garden so he can't even get the lawnmower through any more and I don't want that being scraped along the side of my car.

£9.16 per month pay rise. Sure, that will cover my rent increase. FFS. Gotta love the NHS.

Thank you. Actually Mrs J, I felt awful. I don't want to fall out with my neighbours but it had to be said. It's done now.
