Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

the BBc referring to Mary Keitany as having beaten the world record - has she run faster than Paula? No, I don't think so.

Surely in this day and age it is completely sexist to imply that men and women have to run in separate races? and WTF is a "women's only race WR" It's either a WR or it's not...! (rant over)

My postman does it as well. I was actually outside one day cutting back a prickly shrub right under the window and all the cuttings (with about 1 inch long narrow spikes) were still lying on the grass. Did I say 'gerroff my land'? No ...I did not ... I politely warned him to mind where he put his feet!! Assertiveness fail :-(

I don't think you can lay the blame at the door of the BBC - they are just following the IAAF's policy of listing separate world records for mixed and women-only races (there's currently a slower women-only WR shown for 15 km, 20 km, HM, 25 km, 30 km and marathon).

I agree that it's totally wrong though.

I'm a bit worried my 5km PB won't be able to stand on RunBritain as I was paced by a male friend! ;)

@Helegant - if I'm picturing the scene correctly, can you not just block access to their bin strip? Maybe with your bins? :)

That's the thing - they're implying that women can't run as fast unless they have men to chase, yet they're perfectly happy for world records to be set with the aid of pacemakers.

People on Facebook claiming the "New marathon PB!" time on their Garmin as opposed to the actual time they took to get from the start line to the finish line (otherwise known as the official result). I'm not bitter or jealous, I just hate bad data.

If a polite 'cease and desist' word doesn't work then I may have to get passive-aggressive and block the route.

The pacer thing is a bit daft. Are there two WR for female visually impaired runners depending on whether their guide is male or female?
