Your parents chose that as a career and that is part of the package Duchess, in the same way that I used to have a hellish Christmas in the parcel industry, I didn't expect everyone else to suffer the same fate. As I said, it isn't something that I have done but I do actually see a holiday as a right, it is essential to my mental health to have a two week break away from my normal circumstances on an annual basis. If the only way I could achieve that would be to take my kids out of school I wouldn't think twice, but I would be fully supportive in ensuring that they did not fall behind in their education. Its the same with any situation, it gets abused by a minority who believe that their kids need a cultural break to see them get hammered for two weeks on San Miguel.

I received an official warning letter from the Department of Education for taking mine out of school for one afternoon to watch the Paralympics in London.
We don't go on holiday much. Kids didn't even have passports until well into secondary school. However, when we have managed a holiday abroad it has created much more than just a suntan, it's good memories and those are the bits that I think people need to have, in order to hang on to when the going gets tough.
We've been on holiday in this country, mostly Cornwall or Norfolk and memories are created there too, it doesn't have to be abroad, but 'abroad' offers some extra dimension to learn about a place or a people.
I don't think it is a *right* in any way, but I think it is more important than some would think.

Red Squirrel
Cars turning into a side road where people are crossing (yes again; sorry!) and being on the wrong side of the road.
In order to scoop up the pedestrians who had made it over halfway and were over the dotted white line?
When I say turning ... bombing around a blind corner. We ran for our lives twice in the last week. Not amused.

The lunchtime kitchen sniffer. Offputting when you're trying to eat. It's a big snarky sniff. At first I thought it was a cold but they've been doing it for about 4 months.

I went to edit my Facebook advert preferences and it thinks I'm interested in cattle! Fuck knows where Facebook got that idea from.

The chap on his bike chatting on his phone in the middle of the road, whilst the bus I was on was right behind him, waiting to get past.
Not sure if gears were grinding or I was just worried for cyclist....
