Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

What do you know today, that you did not yesterday?

That Olivia Newton John has died. Well technically we couldn’t have known that yesterday as she has only died today

RIP Olivia.

That Friday's full moon is sometimes known as a 'Sturgeon Moon'. After the fish, not the woman. The Algonquin tribe named it for the many sturgeon fish which used to be found in rivers at this time of year. (The fish is now endangered. :-( )

Apparently there's a bit of a printing paper shortage developing as paper-manufacturers are finding it more profitable to produce cardboard boxes for Amazon deliveries than to make paper. (DD1 works in publishing and has been telling us about some of the issues facing the industry.)

Peat bogs cover three percent of the earth's surface but hold thirty percent of terrestrial carbon. The Flow Country in Sutherland (way way north mainland Scotland) holds more carbon than all the trees in the UK.
