Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

lots of current research suggests that a little protein during activity is good so expect more products to have an endurance formula including protein over the next 12 months. If I remember correctly you recover better if you start taking protein while still exercising and fatigue on the day was perceived to be less. The usual small sample sizes and total bollocks that doesn't translate to the real world being used to sell a new product but it's gotta be worth giving it a go.

I think Viper from maximuscle is the right mix of different carbs and protein and they have started to sponsor endurance athletes now to promote it.

I use a slimfast as a protein shake meal replacement when I do a double session starting before breakfast and ending at lunch time.

Veggies are more likely to be lacking in some B vitamins and the sort of iron that is easily transferred to haemo types rather than protein. General protein intake will probably be quite high (unless they eat crappy ready meals like my ex who was the plumpest long term veggie I've ever met) there might be a few essential amino acids in low concentrations that might need replacing if you are doing lots of tissue damaging sessions.

Interestingly Steve, when I still ate meat I had chronic aenemia. Ever since I have been a veggie, my iron levels have been fine!

I take Vit B supplements not just because im a veggie but because i drink alot of alcohol and this prevents absorption of the vitamin.

Hann you are obviously a very enviable picture of health and fitness, i really wouldn't worry about it...you know your own body!

KR2, before I became a veggie I might have been interested, now I could barely bring myself to touch, let alone eat meat...
