Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm in work full time from Jun 1. Thankfully, I'm in an office, although it's shared with two others.

I'm seriously considering to take the kids to their granny's when we're both having to work, I'm happy to fight that fight.

MrsBridgewater, I feel your pain. Haven't seen my youngest since he went back to uni after Christmas. Would have been home at Easter, but for lockdown.

I don't understand the concept of allowing small children back to nurseries to be looked after by virtual strangers with a bunch of other children when in many cases they could be just as easily and safely be looked after by grandparents. I think if I was in the position of having to use childcare for young children whilst returning to work I would be choosing to send them to Grandma instead, one person, rather than a load of strangers. But it is all very difficult.

I am trying to get my head around how next half term will work. In normal times it wouldn't bother me leaving my three teenagers at home (18,16 and 13) but they are going stir crazy and tempers are fraying! If I have to be in school full time I'll be coming home in every available free just to keep an eye on the pressure cooker of too much testosterone in one house!

It doesn't help that we haven't been told what is expected of us as staff, I know the yr r, 1 and 6 teachers are going back, key workers have been invited to send their children back in all years (we teach through to KS5), but we haven't been told which teachers will be needed.

Oh FFS! Just had an email from , sent at 3.03pm on the Friday before half term, saying that their daughter has left her Physics book in school (9 weeks ago!) and needs it for revision for end of year assessments. WTAF does she expect me to do?

Can you send them a link to a copy of a suitable textbook on Amazon that will substitute? If they have Amazon Prime she might get it tomorrow. Otherwise just go.... :-p (sorry last bit isn’t helpful but it’s what I’d feel like doing if I were you!)

I caved and went in to school. Found the book in her cubby hole in her form room, so much for 'she knows she handed it in so you must have it!' I've left it in the corridor outside the school office for her to collect... if the office is open next week.

Meanwhile... a colleague, who has a new grandchild she has yet to meet, sent me this!

EYFS guidance is out. Another amazing piece of timing. Kind of contradicts some of the advice for primary schools too, of course...

Sounds about right Cyclops.

This is a minor issue in the scheme of what everyone on here is having to do, but by the end of today I'll have marked 90,000 words in the last 5 days. Next 45,000 drops on Thu. Ugggh. So need a break.

Oh no! That's awful. OH asked me when I could book a hol last night. Apart from workload which would prohibit anything before July, we aren't allowed to book anything after end June in any case. He's disappointed.

There are enough educators on here that I thought it might be nice to have somewhere supportive to rant and problem solve.
