Columba
I seem to have missed Sid first time round. Perhaps he was on one of the threads that I don't haunt. Been gardening. 2 hours. Came in as I was getting cold. Once in, I realised just how cold I was. Now wrapped in a shawl/poncho thing, and have a hot cup of ![]() |

Well done, Columba! It's surprising how the cold catches you at this time of year. Hope you've warmed up now. Good luck to all the racers this weekend! |

um
7½ miles in the forest today ... found 2 herds of deer - one seemed to be all does, the other mostly stags. Had the wrong camera - may need to go back tomorrow with the 'proper' one. Still very wet & boggy in some places. The full set, if you're interested ... it didn't turn out to be a fast run! photos.app.goo.gl The one downside, got back to the car after 3, and the pub shuts at 3 midweek out of the summer season. |

Looks lovely there um. Another long run done and never again! It was a lapped marathon along the sea front between Folkestone and Hythe, completely flat, perfect weather, nice snacks at the aid station 😃 but miles of concrete path on a camber 🤢. I struggle so much mentally with this that I'm just as fast on a hilly trail in shitty weather. 5 hours though, so not too shabby. |

Turtlemama
Funeral went well today. Apparently the family had told the church to expect 120 mourners. They didn't count on the strength of support from colleagues - there were over 300. People who retired 10+yrs ago came, people who had since transferred to other areas returned, management turned out in force, and had guaranteed everyone who knew the deceased would be able to attend even if on duty. In the nicest possible way, it was more like an old school reunion, albeit not in the best of circumstances. I'd gone after night shift so am now finally back, on the sofa with wine, and TP has popped out for a takeaway. I'd like to say the turtle is asleep but I can still hear crashing about upstairs and really can't be bothered to intervene. Physio in the morning, hopefully will have some news or at least a plan of action. Look forward to some good race reports x |
