Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I’m fitting a Thule Elite Van XT bike rack to my Peugeot Boxer campervan (also fits Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper) and plan to bore or excite you by documenting my experience of the process here 🤓😁

First cleaning the back door

Putting top rail on with sealant/adhesive and tightening the end flange with an Allen key.

Not experienced with “sikaflex” and was bricking it as I positioned the top rail on the back door, expecting to get gunk everywhere and move the rail out of position before I tightened the flange. Had plenty of clothes to hand, but managed to do it without messing up! 12 hours to set now. Phew!

Good work :)
We don’t have bikes but are considering a rack to have a storage bag on - not cheap though!

This rack cost about £500, so yes not cheap. But it should take 2 bikes (35kg rating) if I put it on correctly 🤭 Even the “sikaflex” was £30!

For motorhomes, Sikalfex is required kit for any almost inevitable leaks that appear. Expensive, but worth the money

Never heard of the stuff. Have I just been lucky so far?

(And have I just spoken too soon… as I just put ours back in storage again)

I’d not heard of it either until i started watching camper builds on YouTube! It’s a trade name but gets used the way people say Hoover for vacuum cleaners. The stuff I’m using is actually Dekasyl made by Dekalin but I thought it was a bit nerdy to write that ha ha. Certainly higher spec than bathroom sealant anyway
