Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Bantham swoosh at the weekend with a few swim buddies.

Torrential rain the night before I I found myself in the pissing rain helping the organizers move the tents to the hard concrete of the start.

The heavy rain made the upper river a bit more murky than previous swims I'd read about. It was also a little choppy but nothing to write home about.

One of my pod wanted a selfie and stopped us in the shallows for it which was a little annoying as was picking them up at 4.30am in Totness as they had flown down from the north east.

The finish came up quite quick for me and I hung back from the finish beach. It was only then really that I felt the power of the river tide. Had to put effort in to swim the few meters to the shore. What a fantastic feeling.

A relatively easy swim with that amazing tide and I wished I signed up to swim back. Maybe next year.

I spent the day on the beautiful bigbury on sea / bantham / burgh island beach the next day at low tide and the river Avon we swam down almost disappears. It's an amazing river.

I don't know the temperature difference from the north east but it was a hell of a lot warmer. If I didn't know better I'd say 4-5 degrees but know it can't be.

I'm looking at other tide swims now cause my lazy gene likes them!
