Mute with staining from iron or tannins in water, I think.

Red Squirrel
I saw a lovely flock of starlings on a front lawn mining probably for leather jackets. Some spoilsport neighbours had that horrible plastic grass - that must be so disappointing for birds and other creatures.

The local hares seem to be congregating in the front field here. There were 10 there a few mornings ago. Just 7 of them this morning. They appear to prefer it as a morning spot. There’s usually only one or two there in the evenings. The evening ones don’t tend to take much notice of me when I cycle down my lane. They just do a disinterested, somewhat half hearted crouch and wait for me to go past. The ones in the mornings are much more flighty - zooming off to the far edge of the field as soon as I make my way out from behind the trees.

My Merlin app picked up Siskin in the garden yesterday. Couldn't see any though, but they were in the tree. What a noise!

Might have a Wren nesting in the sunken patio alcoves 😍😍
Some ivy rootshas managed to come through the top and make a gap in the stone and wreny was crawling around inside it a lot!

Very early for Whimbrel, especially that far north. Major time for Whimbrel in Scotland is May. Curlew?
