Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I couldn't get on with those. My prescription is so bad it was like putting two rubberised bin lids in my eyes.

After breaking my old pair of varifocals, I have just recently got a new pair. I have now got to get used to switching between varifocals and PC glasses. Something that have not done for several months.

I ran a marathon in glasses for the first time this weekend. Really can't read a thing any more with contact lenses.

Despite now having varifocals I tried to run a couple of years ago with contacts in. Unfortunately it was a navigational excursion and needed some mapreading. I could see ahead well enough but couldn't read the map on my phone. D'oh! They had to come out and the specs go back on.

Reading or even PC stuff with contacts in is virtually impossible. I have run in glasses if only a mile or two but prefer contacts for longer runs or races.

Just got back from a lunchtime walk and realised I had been wearing my PC glasses instead of the varifocals. This may take a while to get right!

My varifocals bounce around too much to see well if running so I generally use contacts for running cycling and swimming (with goggles on). I have some old single vision glasses that I can run in and found that, if I slide them down my nose a bit they change focus enough to be able to read.

I like orienteering... When wearing my wraparound sunnies, I have to stop cycling, dive really close to map and Garmin to work things out. I have started wearing my multi-focal normal glasses now, so I can read Garmin, map and see the trail properly. Certainly, off road, I'd be very reluctant to do the one eyed thing although some fellow orienteers do...

Got something to say?
