Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Afternoon all,

Second child due in April. With the boy, who is now five, I was unable to convince my wife of the utility of a jogging buggy.

With the little one, now the missus has seen parkrun, I am permitted such an indulgence. This will, of course, give the wife a rest from the baby, number one son some alone time with mummy, and me some exercise.

There's six miles between my home and my mother-in-law's house by the short route. Any distance by the long route. It can be all on pavement, or not at all on pavement.

I'm looking at this:

buggybaby.co.uk

Meets my budget, and suitable for newborns with an additional support.

Has anyone used one? Any good? Any alternatives I might have discounted?

Also, to what extent it a footmuff desirable? Obviously, baby will need to be warm, but is buying a £40 bespoke add on going to be better than choosing decent clothing and blankets and such?

I don't fancy a trip down to Peterborough to check out a range, but I might have to...

Funnily enough, Binks and I are looking for a double running buggy... which reminds me about the running awards I see stuck on this one. Does anyone on here have either Men's Running or Women's Running magazines that has the pram awards in it that they could share? I'd be very grateful!

DeeGee: this might be the one we saw at the baby show a few weeks ago. Obvs unsuitable for us but the bloke told us it was rigorously tested and won silver in the awards, so if it's the same buggy, then it's a good bet.

I read a good review of it, hence why I'm erring towards it. It'll take a MaxiCosi car seat as well, which we may or may not be able to cadge back from wherever we lent it...

Hendo is lurking, but not because of the word muff :-O

I can't really help but I got a Bob (which do a twin version that the Yellings use)
I also bought the foot muff thing to go with it. I suppose you try out with blankets etc and get the muff later.

The Bob can't be used for running until they're 6 months old, reading around that's to stop their brains being shaken around inside their skull as much as their heads being held stable. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with her in a forward facing buggy just yet either (she's 12 weeks).
That said, I'm a first time mum so probably being far too cautious :-)

I'll let you know how I get on in February though :-)

Ah yes, a Bob is exactly what we were looking at getting...in the twin. Obvs. Six months? Really? Blimey. Maybe I can mimble around before that with the normal buggy... (Power of positive thinking and all that).

I only have the single, and it's huge. It doesn't fit in the car boot without putting the back seat down (Saab 93)

But it's lovely and light and really easy to steer. I've been doing power walking hill repeats in it.

It's easy enough to fold down and take the wheels off and on.

Katypie inherited a running buggy from Smout that may well have magical powers. I shall point her in the direction of this thread...

Hey! Love this. It's fab. Much better than its predecessor. I used this from about five months with no.1 and 6 with no. 2. No problems and running with him now at 19 months. Personally I'd buy the cosey toes. happy to answer any questions. It's a bugger to get in and out of the car. You need to take all the wheels off and poss the brake. Takes a few mins. Long body compared to a normal buggy (I only notice if I take it on holiday as I'm not used to using it on public spaces and tend to knock things over. I'd buy it if I were ever needing one. I was just dead lucky to get smouts
