Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

This is bizarre. I read your opening comment Alice, and thought... well I’ve got an iPhone X and I’ve never had this problem

Ofcourse.. when I upload a photo today.. Fetch rotates it 90 degrees 😀

I've just been making some adjustments, so that the maximum file size is now 20Mb, not 6Mb - that should buy us a few months until Apple release their next phone :-)

As for the orientation... what Um said on the previous page. Because you can hold your phone any way up, the orientation information is stored with the picture when it is taken. If this information is lost e.g. by screenshotting the original, or by using a third-party cropping/resizing tool, etc - then Fetch doesn't get to see which way up it's supposed to be.

Hopefully the increased file size will let you upload photos directly now - but do please let me know if it continues to turn stuff sideways or upside down :-)

To check, Fetch - although we can upload them as large (or humongous!) files, they get squished at the Fetch end and stored as much smaller files (and pictures)? Max width 1000 pixels?

Just checking Ian - loading photos seems a bit iffy at the moment. Getting a message that only PNG and JPG files allowed, when that's what I'm trying to load.
(via laptop, both original JPG and via pptx compostion PNGs. Not massive, <4 mb)

Got something to say?

I’ve started using my phone to take photos. The pics are often larger than the 6MB allowed on Fetc...
