Weirdly enough I find myself on fozzy (and fetch's - less weirdly). It is important to be very precise about language on this topic, and I find from Corbyn and now sadly NY Demoratic socialist primary mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani (who I would still pick over alleged sex pest -13 separate women have made claims- and Netanyahu defence team member Cuomo), that they aren't, weren't and seem ultimately to not care about the language they used. Mamdani used the term "globalize the intifada" and then tried to back up his statement by using a very tenuous parallel with the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. It's like - sigh - you would expect the same precision when talking about African Americans or Native Americans and in particular Corbyn would employ that care and precision, so why laziness when it comes to discussing Jewish people?
It is possible to criticise the deplorable actions of the Israeli government and particular cabinet members. Just don't blanket them all under a heading of "Israel" or "Jewish people". I also believe it is possible to be anti-zionist but not anti-semitic too. Historically quite a few Jewish scholars at the time felt that the creation of a separate state in the Middle-East would be a mistake and risked actually increasing global anti-semitism (and also unfortunately echoed the desperate plan of the Nazis to resettle the Jewish population in Madagascar). The podcast Empire presented by William Dalyrmple and Anita Anand has good episodes on the origin of the Israel/Palestine conflict going back into the 19th century (pre Baldwin), and thinking behind Zionism. A reminder denying Jewish people a right to self-determination and a right to a separate state is anti-semitic, but opposing the idea of a Jewish state being setup in that region is not. (Waits under a table for someone to disagree with that line).
The settlers on the West Bank are engaging in a program of colonisation. We have arrived at an endpoint where Gaza has been razed, the IDF can bomb food checkpoints and hospitals with impunity, restrict the entry into Gaza of food and aid, and then turn their attentions to Iran. There are no easy answers, but I can guarantee bombing Iran increases the suffering of all involved in Gaza, in Iran, in surrounding states that take in the refugees and prolongs the different conflicts for the forthcoming decades.

Hang on. When the US bombs Iran, we say that the US bombs Iran. Why then when Israel attacks another country do we have to specifically say "The IDF" or "The Israeli government"?
Double standards.

If the people of Israel don't like people not tripping over themselves to point out it's the government of Israel or the IDF doing things rather than the country then they know what to do about it.
I'm sure many Americans don't feel the actions of the USAF as ordered by the US government represent what they wanted but don't get the same consideration. Similarly if the RAF were sent on missions it would be Britain attacks Iran despite not all of us agreeing with it.
