Needing a bit of help. I'm looking for a pair of decent running shoes. I'm 5ft 9in and weigh 249lbs, age 53, I know, I know. I used to run every day but life and work got in the way so looking to make a return and get fit. Maybe not to marathon standard, think those days are long gone., but enough to get fit and help with loosing the weight. I have been cycling for the last few years which is great but would like to be running again. Any suggestions regarding shoes would be appreciated. Robert

Hi Robert, you need to get yourself to a decent running shop and have a gait analysis done. If you just go by someone else's recommendation then you'll be in the wrong shoe for you and will end up injured or with niggles that aren't necessary.

Go to a decent running shop and get you gait analysed once that's done and you're aware what trainers you require then worlds your oyster.

Any suggestions for a decent running shop, Im in Ayr so probably the closest would be in Glasgow.

In Glasgow Run4It (Bothwell Street) does gait analysis and have a good selection of makes/models. They also have a branch in the Tiso Outdoor Centre.
Haven't used them for shoes but other options are Greaves (Gordon Street and Sauchiehall Street) or Achilles Heel in Great Western Road.
