Sorry Gobi I meant you may do differently with your coachees, just wanted to illustrate that steady is a pace between easy and MP, but not necessarily a fixed one.

Bob - think you hit a nerve with your thread, but overwhelming consensus is that yes you can do it, but it takes time and commitment and patience.

A question on paces then.... I'm sure it will be answered elsewhere on site....

Whats the formula for paces....

You mention before.... tempo = 10km + 10-15 secs
But what should be Easy pace, steady etc

I'm sure Gobi will have the ideal answer but for me :
easy = <70% maximum heart rate
steady = <80% MHR
(for me) everything else is hard:)

Curly, got the message, perhaps as someone at the start of the journey it's about needing the belief that it can be one.

Macca I like your easy pace.... but I'm not sure it's right so to check = means sitting on the couch? As to be fair thats what got me to 19 stone in the first place and I know Gobi says slow it down but... really?
